8 pairs of knickers hanging on the line

Yes, you've guessed it - yesterday we started potty training.

Despite the 8 pairs of wet knickers, 4 of the 10 attempts made it to the potty.

It was obvious by the end of the day that Katie understands the concept because whilst daddy was on the toilet, she walked in and asked what the smell was. When he explained, she said "Well done, want a sweetie?"

Last week Katie had already mastered the use of the potty for poo purposes, with the help of a sweet reward. But after 4 successful trips yesterday we soon realised that we were going to have to change the reward before her teeth all decay.

So now we have a star chart where 5 stars equals a chocolate.

A bumpy day

Today was not a good day for Katie.

When we picked her up from nursery at dinner time she had 2 large colourful marks around her left eye - she had fallen over and hit her face on a table.

Then this evening after tea, she wanted to do some bouncing on her bed. She was doing really well until she fell and hit her chin on the end of the bed and put her teeth through her lip. There was a lot of blood, a lot of tears, and eventually a fat lip.

Fortunately, Katie had received a doctors kit for her birthday and so Daddy was able to give her a check up. A prescription for Calpol and a cuddle with Mungo soon did the job.
