First Christmas

Sorry this is a little late but we've been enjoying Christmas! We've had a lovely time - though to be honest - we're not sure if Katie actually noticed it was Christmas or not. She is enjoying her new toys (and the hat!) and she certainly appreciated all the extra cuddles from her grandparents. However, when we tried to explain the true meaning of Christmas she was just too distracted by all the flashing lights and colourful wrapping paper (noted for a future sermon illustration).

Growing up

All is well with Katie. Now that she is drinking nasty chemicals the ounces are piling on. At 19 weeks, she weighed in at healthy 10lb 13oz. She is now officially on the graph and so the Health Visitor is now officially off our backs.

Maybe not!

It would appear that the stress of playing such a major role has had a bad effect on Katie. Since Sunday her hair has been falling out, big clumps of it.

Are we going to have a bald Katie?

Has Katie found her vocation?

Katie went to her first birthday party on Saturday. No it's not been that long, she's only 4 months old, it was Faye's birthday party. Faye is one of our neighbours and for her 3rd birthday she had a fancy dress party. So as you can imagine there were a few princesses, a couple of snow whites and a load of fairies.

Katie was feeling fairly festive and decided to wear her new christmas outfit kindly bought for her by her friend Margaret.

Lots of fun was had by all.

Following on from this, Katie decided she was ready for a more challenging role, and so on Sunday she had the starring role in that classic Christmas play "Grandpa's special birthday". It went like a dream, she cooed and gurgled in all the right places and happily sucked her thumb while the shepherds and wise men brought her gifts. She was beautiful.

However, she was not pleased when she discovered there was a second performance and cried all the way through. The play was adapted a little to include a guest appearance by Jesus' nanny (Debbie!). Katie managed to compose herself and stopped the tears on cue for the end of Mary's lullaby.

We're normally quite keen to take photos of Katie, I can't quite believe that we don't have any to show for this. We got a couple of snaps afterwards, but as you can see, she is still not awfully impressed.

(If anyone managed to get any better photos, please let us have a copy, thanks).

To be like Jesus

This has always been one of Katie's favourite songs. As far as we can tell.

Well now she's going to get more than she bargained for because she's been asked to play baby Jesus in our christmas carol service!

She doesn't have any lines as such, just some ad-libbing to do - you know holy gurgles and babbles. She's been practising hard.

We'll let you know how it goes and try to get some pictures for you all.

Weight update

Katie weighed in at 9lb 9oz yesterday, which although an improvement, still isn't good enough. So we're moving onto formula milk to try and build her up a little more.

According to the guidelines, at her age (nearly 4 months) she should be around 14lb. But hey, not all babies go by the book. Katie is unique and we love her.
